Friendville

As it turns out a good portion of the walnut in my breakfast area and into the living room is buckling. No water got on top of it but some seeped under above the sub-floor. I noticed the buckling the next day and it is progressing across the living room more and more each day.  I have a guy coming today to give an estimate and another tomorrow. The insurance guy told me to wait 6 weeks for the damage to stabilize and then we will finish out the claim. He said they would refinish the entire floor (living room, entry dining, hall and breakfast area).

A lot going on at work and at home. Many decisions to be made. Some are difficult. Rhetorical question for the week: If you were on the Titanic and the captain told you everything was going well and he just needed you to hold the wheel for a little while, would you? How about after you saw the rest of the crew in lifeboats?

Bobbie was feeding Ella today and I was doing dishes….  Suddenly I noticed the sound of rushing water above the din of the dishwasher (not me, Kitchenaid washer).  I rushed out to the kitchen and found water everywhere.  Opening the cabinet below the sink I discovered hot water blasting at me.  I tried to shut it off but it was too hot and too pwerful for even an ex-submariner.  So I sounded the alarm (told Bobbie there was a bad leak) and shot downstairs to shut off the water supply to the kitchen.  When I got to the basement…water everywhere.  Luckily nothing finished got wet…but I have been mopping for a bit to clean it up.

Some investigation after  securing the water supply revealed a rusted and ruptured braided stainless steel supply line to the dishwasher (again, not me).  More information at 10….

I know many will find this dumb but I like it and I had a bit of a home emergency today so I need some cheer.

Rough night with Ella.  She seems to be awake more at night. This is when she was most active when Bobbie was pregnant too.  Doctor Bill would reassure the parents that she will eventuallly revert to a better cycle.  They seem to do well with that instruction and it is eventually true.  I have a hard time buying it at the moment but Husband Bill reassures Bobbie that this will pass. 

I am doing what I can to try to helpBobbie get some sleep at night but I have my limitations since she is breastfeeding.  Julio is going to the in-laws in the evenings because he is not adjusting the best.  I think we will do that for a few days and see how he does.

Mom is coming Wednesday to visit Ella and to help.  I am tired, and I know Bobbie is tired.  It isn’t anything I didn’t expect but it is tougher when you are in it.

 I put a Flickr Widget up yesterday with Ella’s photos so I hope some people stop by to see them.

Ok, trying something new here.  My old website was getting static and difficult to edit so I restarted here.  This should be easier to edit and I can mess with it when I am at work or wherever (which is nice).  I was using Frontpage and I was not able to do anything with my page unless I was at my desk in my office at home.  We will see what developes here.
